The Ruins of Kazad Dur is a Hex Crawl and Adventure designed for Shadowdark RPG. This adventure is suitable for characters level 3-5. Play it as a stand alone module, or as a continuation to The Crypt of Valerius. 

Explore the Sawtooth Hills and the Spider Wood and discover the secrets of the lost Dwarven outpost of Kazad Dur! 

Centuries ago, in the Age of Myst, the Thoradain Dwarves of Mordek Tek occupied the whole of the Sawtooth Hills. There, they mined rich mineral deposits and built many outposts and strongholds to protect them. The ruins of this once grand empire are scattered about the hills, providing shelter for bandits, baahlspawn, or worse.
 
One such outpost was Kazad Dur. A mining fortress carved into the foothills, Kazad Dur was established by Brodan Greystone, atop rich deposits of Iron, Gold, and Mithril. For decades Brodan and his clan fended off attacks from goblins, ogres and trolls, often surrounded and completely cut off for years at a time. Brodan and his Shield Dwarves became legendary heroes in defense of their home. 

Eventually, along with many such outposts in that age, Kazad Dur fell to the Baahlspawn and the Greystone clan was forced to retreat to Mordek Tek where the doors were shut for nearly 1500 years. The location of Kazad Dur was lost to time and only the legend of it’s riches and the treasures buried in the tombs of the chieftain, Brodan, remain as tales told to young Greystone children.
